About 20 mins in last night i got my 1st playable hand.....remembered it being discussed here just yesterday and thought i'd post it . looking back at it now even though low in chips and in a bad spot i think i might should have tried at least a small raise to act as though i had a better hand than i actually did..your thought?? im in seat 5, blinds were in 2&3

I'm not much of a NL/PL player, so take this for what it's worth... Given no reads on your opponents I'd have played it the same way you did.

How long had you been at the table, 20 minutes? Did you have enough time with these players so you had an idea what they'd have called with? Raised with? Probably not, so I think you played it just fine.

Two questions I'm always asking myself: 1) How do my opponents play? 2) How do they think I play?

I'm not good enough to play 66 in that spot with that stack size.

IMO

1) There were way too many people to act after you.

2) Your stack size was so small that you can't just go blowing away chips.

3) In order to win against average opponents, you would have had to risk a substantial part of your stack to bluff and there are better spots to do that.

I would think that your play was fine. You took a shot at flopping a set and missed so move on to the next hand. Nice job.

Without a specific read on the opposition, I think you played it fine.

at the flop you just about have to assume j's pair...then with the turn and k you got to toss the 66 because the two card higher pair option...j's or k's is going to kill you in the long haul...thus a raise at the beginning may have been death to the bankroll as well...

Right. He folded on the flop. The most interesting part of this hand is whether to play 66 from early or middle position. Would you have played it Cheapseats?

I always play small pocket pairs in NL if there is little aggression shown preflop. The rewards of flopping a set and slowplaying can be huge. Especially if your opponent puts you are on a flush or straight draw that doesn't hit.

ql...depending on how the table is playing...my history on the table in the session and what i have seen from the calling positions will determine whether or not i continue...this i don't know from the given circumstances...
